Black Rain Ordnance Spec15 Rifle Review

Black-Rain-Ordnance-Spec15

Black Rain Ordnance Inc., the manufacturer of this rifle, was incorporated in 2009; it is a young company among gun makers. At inception, the company specialized in the production of AR rifle receivers. Its receivers are made of aluminum alloy, and this makes them light and strong.

The company hired highly skilled machinists and other specialists from the beginning, and it made a name from inception by producing quality ones. With time they branched out to other components, eventually manufacturing all the metallic components of their AR rifles.

Spec15 Overview

The Black Rain Ordnance Spec15 is one of the company’s main products. It is made in America with American materials, American workers, and most importantly, in line with American high standards. The rifle has a 16″ barrel, and it gives you a firm pistol grip.

The pistol grip used in this rifle is MIAD (mission adaptable) manufactured by the Magpul Industries Corporation. It has a slim profile and is texturized on the side, and this gives you a firm enough grip to enable you to shoot with one hand if necessary. This ergonomic design makes it easy to use the gun for a long time and remain comfortable.

The Spec 15 AR has a total length of 34” when the stock is collapsed, and it weighs 7.57 Lbs.; this is very light for a gun in its category. The stock is retractable, and you can use it to determine the length of the gun. It is also possible to detach it completely; removing the stock might receive a tool as it is rather firmly attached to the rest of the gun’s body.

It has a 30 rounds magazine with 1 round in the chamber, so in total, it has a 30+1 capacity, and it fires well with all right caliber bullets from any of the reputable manufacturers.  The gun’s receiver is made of aluminum alloy, and the entire body is machined to give it a sleek and streamlined look. It comes in different colors, including blue, black and black, and tan. The gun has three QD sling attachment points, all of which are on the front section. This is a rather unusual position to have the attachments for a modern rifle, but it is similar to the traditional M16.

It has foldable iron sites on the rear, and on its front, you can always fold them to put them away if you don’t want to use them. It doesn’t come with any other sites, but you can purchase additional ones of yours and fix them on the rail provided on the gun’s body. It is when you buy additional sites that you may need to fold the basic iron ones. It is, however, important to mention that the iron sites are quite adequate by themselves.

Conclusion

The Spec15 AR has a 180o fire selector on the left-hand side of the gun just behind the trigger so that it is possible to move it with your right thumb. It has a sliding trigger that is both comfortable and aggressive.

Virtually all of the gun’s internal parts are compatible with standard V2 parts, making it easy to upgrade the gun if you desire to do so. Overall, this semiautomatic rifle is both practical and affordable. It has a wide range of applications, including sports, law enforcement, and the military.
